Job Summary:

The SQL Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of SQL Server databases, ensuring high availability and compliance while supporting application teams and business stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
• Administer, monitor, and maintain SQL Server databases (on-prem and cloud-based)
• Implement and manage backup, recovery and disaster recovery strategies
• Configure and maintain AlwaysOn Availability Groups for high availability and disaster recovery
• Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and index management
• Manage database security, including role-based access control and auditing
• Apply patches, upgrades, and support version migrations (e.g., SQL Server 2008 to 2019 )
• Automate routine tasks using T-SQL, PowerShell, or other scripting tools
• Collaborate with application developers and infrastructure teams to support deployments and troubleshoot issues
• Document database environments, configurations, and procedures
• Participate in on-call rotation and provide 24/7 support as needed
Qualifications:
Required:
• High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
• 2 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA in enterprise environments
• 2 years of experience with T-SQL, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), and SQL Server Agent
• 2 years of hands-on experience with AlwaysOn Availability Groups, replication, mirroring and clustering
• 2 years of experience with Azure SQL (IaaS and PaaS), Azure Migrate and Data Migration Assistant
Preferred:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
• Strong understanding of database security, encryption (e.g., TDE), and compliance standards
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for database deployments
• Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or MCSA: SQL Server
