Job Summary:
Resideo is a global manufacturer and distributor of technology-driven solutions, and they are seeking a Senior Manager for their Data Platforms. This role involves leading a talented engineering team to build and support scalable data platforms while ensuring alignment with business needs and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
Responsibilities:
• Lead Platform Development – Own the end-to-end engineering Data platform, ensuring platform reliability, scalability, and extensibility
• Lead the strategic direction of the Data Platform, designing a scalable and high-performance architecture that evolves with the business goals and customer needs
• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities
• Oversee critical infrastructure, including OLTP databases, near real-time data pipelines, batch processing systems and frameworks that make data infrastructure accessible for engineering teams
• Create and maintain run books and knowledge bases for platform operations team
• Drive performance optimization, enhancing query performance, reducing latency, and ensuring efficient compute
• Ensure seamless integration of data systems across the company, collaborating with data engineering and analytics teams to align solutions with business needs
• Establish monitoring solutions for data pipelines and infrastructure, proactively identify bottlenecks, optimize performance ensuring high availability, performance, and security
• Serve as an escalation point in product level support for ongoing maintenance and production issues
• Performs after-hours support for critical production systems with occasional, scheduled maintenance or release deployments
• Monitor and optimize platform operational cost
• Generate and present operational metrics (volumes, errors, trends etc.) to various stakeholders
• Provide audit & compliance support as needed
• Partner with internal customers and product teams to drive the platform roadmap, evangelize the use of the platform and accelerate adoption of the platform
• Cultivate a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the team
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry best practices to continuously improve the technical architecture and drive the adoption of new tools and methodologies to enhance our platform.
• Recruit, develop, and sustain a high-performing team while promoting a culture of shared accountability, operational excellence, and partnership across the organization
• Provide constructive feedback, guidance and coaching to help engineers grow their skills and experience
• Share domain and technical expertise by providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members
• Review solution design and architecture and provide guidance and direction, provide technical guidance and expertise to development teams, reviewing code and design decisions as needed
• Provide input to key technical resources at critical points in the corporate-level decision-making process about long-range technical objectives
• Establish, maintain and nurture vendor/partner relationships
Qualifications:
Required:
• 10 years’ overall experience designing, deploying and managing /supporting RDBMS, Data Warehouse systems, Data Lake, and BI solutions, including working with platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, Snowflake, Databricks, Tableau
• 5 years’ overall experience and proficiency in Snowflake advanced concepts like resource monitors, RBAC controls, virtual warehouse sizing, query performance tuning, zero copy clone, time travel, and cost governance
• 10 years of advanced SQL proficiency
• 5 years’ hands-on public cloud experience including experience with technologies and tools such as Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, Configuration Management, and Provisioning Automation with tools such as Github
• 5 years' experience in leading and managing technical teams
• Thorough understanding of security practices such as LDAP, SSL, SSO, and certificate management
• Strong knowledge of modern data Integration & replication technologies such as FIVETRAN, HVR and Mattilion
• Experience with orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow
• Familiarity with the data ops/data observability concepts and platforms such as Datadog/MetaPlane
• Demonstratable experience in developing and articulating technology strategy to various levels in the organization
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Preferred:
• Certifications in cloud technologies, data management, or data engineering (e.g., Azure Data Engineer, Snowflake SnowPro Advanced, CDMP)
• Familiarity with data warehouse and data mesh architectures
• PowerBI or Tableau development experience
• Strong understanding of enterprise data management principles
• Experience with AI/ML technologies and MLOps capabilities and tools
• Good understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) methodology
