Job Summary:
The Business Analyst Clinical will play a key role in supporting and optimizing clinical workflows within our Practice Management (PM) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. This role requires strong clinical domain knowledge, hands-on experience with healthcare operations, and the ability to collaborate with clinical, administrative, and technical teams to improve efficiency, compliance, and patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze, document, and optimize clinical workflows, patient management processes, and care delivery models.
- Serve as a liaison between clinical teams, administrative teams, and IT to ensure system functionality aligns with clinical needs.
- Gather and translate clinical requirements into functional specifications for PM/EHR system enhancements.
- Lead or support implementation, configuration, and optimization of EHR and Practice Management systems (Meditech, Athena, eClinicalWorks, or similar).
- Evaluate system functionality and recommend improvements for documentation, scheduling, patient flow, and reporting.
- Assist with system upgrades, testing scenarios, and integration with ancillary clinical systems.
- Participate in end-to-end project cycles: requirements gathering, design, UAT testing, training, go-live, and post-implementation support.
- Work closely with physicians, nurses, clinicians, and operational staff to ensure adoption of best practices.
- Facilitate cross-functional meetings, create project documentation, and track progress using project management tools.
- Develop and deliver training materials for end users.
- Provide second-level support for clinical issues and escalations.
- Conduct workflow audits, gap analyses, and root cause investigations to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure PM/EHR configurations meet regulatory and compliance standards (HIPAA, CMS, Joint Commission, HEDIS, etc.).
- Bachelor s degree in Nursing (BSN), Medical Assistants (with strong experience), Allied Health, Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, or related clinical field. Master s degree is a plus.
- 5 8 years of experience in clinical operations, EHR/PM systems, or clinical informatics.
- Strong knowledge of ambulatory or hospital workflows (patient intake, charting, documentation, orders, billing, scheduling, care coordination).
- Hands-on experience with one or more major EHR/PM systems.
- Proven ability to translate clinical requirements into technical specifications.
- Proficiency with workflow mapping, process improvement, and change management.
- Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
