Position: DATA Security Admin
Location Peoria IL(Onsite)
Duration 12 months
Location - Peoria, IL or within 150 miles range, with the flexibility to travel to Peoria, IL as needed
The main function of a Data Security Administrator is to plan, coordinate, and implement security measures for information systems to regulate access to computer data files and prevent unauthorized modification, destruction or disclosure of information. A typical data security administrator is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing security measures to safeguard the computer database.
Job Responsibilities:
Train users and promote security awareness to ensure system security and to improve server and network efficiency.
Develop plans to safeguard computer files against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure and to meet emergency data processing needs.
Confer with users to discuss issues such as computer data access needs, security violations, and programming changes.
Monitor current reports of computer viruses to determine when to update virus protection systems.
Modify computer security files to incorporate new software, correct errors or change individual access status.
Coordinate implementation of computer system plan with establishment personnel and outside vendors.
Perform risk assessments and execute tests of data processing system to ensure functioning of data processing activities and security measures.
Encrypt data transmissions and erect firewalls to conceal confidential information as it is being transmitted and to keep out tainted digital transfers.
Skills:
Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and manage one s time.
Basic mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment and computer hardware and software.
Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
Knowledge of laws, legal codes, government regulations, agency rules and the democratic political process.
Knowledge of computer development software, such as Cisco Systems, IBM Tivoli Identity Management (TIM), etc.
Education/Experience:
Associate\'s degree in computer programming or relevant field required. Bachelor\'s degree preferred.
