Engineer-Transport III Responsibilities
- Engineer LD and ULH transport builds and expansions
- Define fiber solutions, equipment needs, and system design for long haul network upgrades
- Respond to outages and high-failure systems, supporting network restoration
- Manage equipment decommissioning and space/power recovery in network facilities
- Plan and maintain transport records across engineering and provisioning databases
- Monitor long-distance network utilization and perform capacity planning
- Support database integrity through cleanup and accurate recordkeeping
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely delivery of business-critical initiatives
- Stay up to date on evolving transport technologies and practices
- 5 years of experience in telecom transport engineering
- Strong knowledge of SONET/SDH, ULH, OTN mesh, and WDM technologies
- Familiarity with vendors such as Ciena, Infinera, Fujitsu, and other long haul platforms
- Proficiency in Telecommunication systems: BGW or Granite (XNG), CoFEE (Canvas), Nautilus, ICON, CCP, Venue, 3GIS/FIMS
- Strong technical and process management skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve escalations
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with equipment design specs, engineering drawings, and network operating systems
- Risk assessment and mitigation in network projects
- Strong organizational and prioritization abilities
- Bachelors degree in a technical field or equivalent relevant experience
