Located in Northern California, the Joby Aviation team is steadily working toward our goal of creating an affordable, all-electric air transportation system. Imagine an air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly and quickly carries you over the traffic congestion below, giving you back the time that otherwise would have spent sitting in traffic. Since 2009, our team has been making this dream a reality, designing and flight testing a prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented individuals to join our team as we push onwards toward certifying the aircraft with the Federal Aviation Administration and preparing for commercialization with launch targeted in select markets for 2024.Overview
We are looking for a highly ambitious, energetic, and experienced Product Designer who will support Joby’s mission to save 1 billion people an hour every day through electric powered flight. You will lead design for a large portion of Joby’s Airframe Diagnostics Software Suite, collaborating with product, engineering, and design colleagues to build the apps, tools, and services that will power a new era of aviation.
Responsibilities
- Run design projects through their entire lifecycle from concept to high-fidelity designs across multiple product lines
- Iterate rapidly, with high quality and user focus
- Communicate the user experience at various stages of the design process by using wireframes, flow diagrams, storyboards, mockups, and/or high fidelity prototypes
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers and other stakeholders to iterate upon new concepts
- Lead individual design initiatives, and contribute to the output of the broader Joby design team
Required
- BA/BS in HCI or Design-related field, or equivalent experience
- 5 years of relevant experience\
- Experience working across multiple platforms such as Web, iOS & Android
- Experience designing for operations and or enterprise operations
- Highly proficient with common design tool such as Sketch, Figma and the Adobe suite
- Understanding of web development fundamentals,and feasibility of design choices
Desired
- Background in aviation
- Experience working with complex internal tooling, operations, or technical systems
- Experience working with HTML/CSS
- Product experience with 2-sided marketplaces
