The John Michael Kohler Arts Center is in search for a part-time Security Services Officer I.
The Security Services Officer I provides institutional security for the art as well as educates visitors about Arts Center security protocols, exhibitions, and programs. Considerable independent judgment and action are exercised within established guidelines laid out during training. This includes monitoring the galleries to prevent loss or damage due to theft, vandalism, fire, etc. The Security Services Officer I will observe and/or report any suspicious individuals or activities and provide visitors and staff with building evacuation assistance as necessary.

The position is office/art gallery based and noise level usually moderate. May occasionally work inside or outside at events where noise level could be moderate to loud.
Hours of work include daytime hours Monday – Friday with an occasional Thursday evening and occasional Saturday and/or Sunday to meet staffing and/or event needs. The number of hours for this position is between 25-28 hours per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor artwork in galleries ensuring established security and safety protocol.
- Learn security procedures and practices.
- Respond to real-time security alarms and critical incidents.
- Explain Arts Center rules and guidelines to visitors.
- Enforce security protocols, emergency procedures, and institutional regulations regarding the proper use and evacuation of the facility to visitors and third-party groups.
- Report fires, acts of vandalism, theft, illegal entry, and any other unauthorized or irregular activity to a supervisor and prepare routine security incident reports.
- Assist with Arts Center’s open/close procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- High school graduate or GED.
- 0-6 months of customer service experience.
- Prior security experience preferred.
- Previous art/museum experience, preferred.
- Maintain and/or obtain First Aid, CPR, AED, and ALICE certifications.
