IT Data Systems Specialist

Our Information Technology team is growing! We’re looking for an IT Data Systems Specialist with at least 3 years of experience in ERP or enterprise application support, along with strong proficiency in SQL and relational database management.

The IT Data Systems Specialist supports the daily operations, maintenance, and optimization of the ERP system and various integrated database-driven applications. This role is critical in ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of our enterprise data systems, while also contributing to the development of real-time dashboards and business intelligence initiatives. The Data Systems Specialist is responsible for preparing and completing action plans resolving problems; determining system improvements and implement changes to the ERP system and reports. To enhance the performance of data systems, the Data Systems Specialist will routinely confer with clients, technical staff, and team members to plan, design, develop, implement, and enhance applications, scripts, procedures, and metadata for the relational database. The Data Systems Specialist provides recommendations for meta-data strategy, data cleansing, data backup/protection, disaster recovery, and security.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Administer and maintain the ERP system, including data entry, processing, and data warehouse servers.
• Monitor and optimize performance of database applications and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
• Develop and maintain custom fields, reports, and analytics within the ERP and related systems.
• Collaborate with internal teams to gather requirements and deliver data-driven solutions.
• Design and implement real-time dashboards and reporting tools using BI platforms.
• Perform routine database maintenance, backups, and recovery procedures.
• Automate recurring tasks and improve system efficiency through scripting and process improvements.
• Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Improve information value by tracking emerging technologies and evaluating applicability to business goals and operational requirements.
• Train/support users to increase user efficiency based on strategic objectives and ongoing business demands.
• Schedule, install, and test new products and system improvements based on user needs and hardware changes.
• Promote and deliver exceptional customer service for all database services and processes.
• Follow established guidelines in delivery of solutions and where appropriate contribute to the continuing evolution of those best practices.
• Understand and adhere to all security policies and procedures relating to systems, data, and physical protection and safety.
• Perform other tasks or duties as assigned or needed.
• Monitor database performance.
• Implement security measures to safeguard data and prepare for disaster recovery.
• Facilitate processes between departments by communicating software updates and enhancements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Certification: None

Experience: 3 years of experience in ERP or enterprise application support. Strong proficiency in SQL and relational database management. Knowledge of business operations. Familiarity with BI tools such as Power BI. Basic scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation and data manipulation. Solid understanding of data structures, ETL processes, and reporting best practices.
