Jones, Skelton & Hochuli (JSH) is the second largest law firm in Arizona. Founded in 1983, we are headquartered in downtown Phoenix, Arizona, with offices in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Salt Lake City, Utah. JSH defends clients of all sizes, across multiple industries in Arizona, New Mexico and Utah. Clients are represented by trial and appellate attorneys who are familiar with the industries they serve and the current needs of their clients. Today, JSH has over 100 attorneys and 110 legal support staff, many of whom have spent their entire career at JSH.
JSH is growing and seeking a full-time, in-house Legal Nurse Consultant to work in the Medical Malpractice group. This position will be responsible for assisting attorneys with all medical aspects of litigation related to case preparation, management, and execution. The ideal candidate will have a RN Degree, 3 years of clinical nursing experience, and 1 year of legal experience preferably in a law firm setting. Applicants should be experienced with medical record review and dealing with expert witnesses. This is a hybrid remote position.
Responsibilities include:
- Obtains, reviews, analyzes, and summarizes medical records and other pertinent medical and legal documents related to case medical facts or deviations from standards of care.
- Organizes, indexes medical records, and prepares medical chronologies.
- Researches and integrates relevant medical and nursing literature in support of the medical facts and issues of a case.
- Selects and organizes literature to be used at trial and assists attorneys with preparation of trial exhibits.
- Identifies, locates, interviews, and evaluates potential experts and sends expert packages to parties for review.
- Enters billable time into computer on a daily basis.
