What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at Joni and Friends?
Duties
- Responsible for all Accounts Payable functions for the company including but not limited to obtaining approvals, supporting documents and checking for accuracy of coding
- Weekly processing of payments, including manual checks and check runs
- Maintain vendor accounts, address and respond to payment inquiries
- Month end close of journal entries which includes monthly accruals, advance payment reconciliations, cost transfers and pre payments
- Assist the Senior Accountant with reconciling the lease payments utilizing iLease software
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations and bank reconciliations as assigned
- Work with Human Resources to complete the monthly payroll-related entries
- Assist in the yearly budget
- Process and review employee expense reports and reconcile the ending balances
- Maintain and update related audit schedules and assist with the year-end audit
- Responsible for bank deposits, petty cash, wire transfers, Gift-in-Kind processing, and answering questions from Area Ministry offices
- Act as back up for Senior Accountant
- Other duties and projects as assigned by the Supervisor to support department and organizational needs
Qualifications
- Must possess a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agree with the Joni and Friends statement of faith
- A minimum of 5 years accounting experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business is required
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Excellent organizational skills
- Outstanding time management skills to prioritize deadlines
- A strong sense of confidentiality
- Non-profit accounting experience preferred
- Competency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Adobe, and experience with Sage Intacct is strongly preferred
- Understanding of Christian ministry and specifically Joni and Friends is desirable
Compensation is $27.50 - $30.00 hr. (non-exempt)
