We operate in Los Angeles and community East and South East of Los Angeles County.
JOB TITLE: Youth Outreach Worker
Under the leadership of the CES Regional Manager and Outreach Coordinator, this position is primarily responsible for connecting with young people experiencing homelessness, building trust, and providing support to increase the individual’s safety and connect them to interim and permanent housing. The Youth Outreach worker will work youth at the access center in Whittier and in the field throughout LA County's Service Planning Area (SPA) 7. Cities encompassed by SPA 7 include Artesia, Bell, Bellflower, Bell Gardens, Cerritos, Downey, East Los Angeles, Hawaiian Gardens, Huntington Park, Lakewood, La Mirada, Montebello, Norwalk, Pico Rivera, Santa Fe Springs, Signal Hill, South Gate, Whittier, and others.

· Conducts street outreach and participates in community/agency outreach events to engage potential clients in services.
· Provide case management to clients referred by the access center or other agencies in the community.
· Attends community events, develops relationships, and promotes Housing First and Trauma- Informed.
· Conducts initial screenings, immediate needs assessments, and crisis stabilization to determine appropriate housing options, case management and other supportive service needs.
· Perform problem-solving short-term housing interventions that seek to assist youth to maintain their current housing or identify an immediate and safe housing alternative within their own network of service providers, family, friends and social supports
· Maintain up-to-date Clarity (HMIS) Records for services provided to clients directly in the field
· Develops relationships with other agencies to support individuals in attaining services such as housing, mental health care, medical treatment, financial assistance, and legal advocacy.
· Provide transportation assistance for the purposes of stabilizing the current housing crisis.
· Maintain professional relationships with offices of local government, and City and County Departments
· Assist participants with collecting documents necessary for services and housing
· Identify safety or health issues that may need to be considered during the identification of housing
· Acquire resources and make successful referrals, including follow-up to ensure the participant successfully accesses and initially retains housing;
· Participate in staff meetings, planning meetings, other meetings as needed, and in- service training
· Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling or similar. Two years of case management experience or social services experience will be considered.
· Knowledge and experience with motivational interviewing, evidence-based practices and trauma-informed care
· Experience working with transitional-age youth, individuals with mental disabilities, low-income families
· Counseling experience preferred
· Understanding of Housing First and Harm Reduction
· Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
· Must have a valid CA Driver’s License, a clean driving record and personal vehicle insurance
· Proof of TB testing
· COVID-19 vaccination, including a booster, is a requirement for the position unless a religious belief or medical exemption applies
· Demonstrated ability to work with a culturally diverse clientele & staff

In the course of performing the job, this position typically spends time sitting, standing, climbing stairs, walking, driving, carrying (15lbs), and lifting (15lbs). Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
Perform some repetitive motion activities. Operates a computer keyboard, adding machine; firm/strong grasping required. Makes and receives telephone calls. Daily use of general office equipment copier, fax machine, phones, etc.
You may be in contact with individuals and families in crisis who may be ill, using substances and/or not attentive to personal health and safety for themselves. The employee may experience a number of unpleasant sensory demands associated with the client’s use of alcohol and drugs, and the lack of personal care. The employee must be ready to respond quickly and effectively to many types of situations, including crisis situations and potentially hostile situations.
Experience and education will be taken into consideration. Salary range: $21-$25. This is a full- time position. Health, dental and life insurance are provided. Vision, accidental and additional life insurance are available on a complimentary basis. Vacation, sick time, and holidays are provided based on agency policies. 401k plan and matching contributions are provided based on agency policies. Must have your own car. Must be willing to use your car for work-related travel.
