Job Summary: The Registered Nurse House Supervisor provides leadership and performs management functions for patient care activities on assigned shift. Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities
- Delivers nursing care, as needed, to assigned group of patients to include education directed towards identified knowledge deficits, treatment planning, pain management and discharge planning utilizing the nursing process.
- Delivers quality nursing care while minimizing the risk of infection, contamination, harm, or injury. Maintains safe and clean working environment ensuring compliance with procedure rules and regulations.
- Provides and coordinates patient care, educates patients and public about various health conditions, and provide advice and emotional support to patients and family members.
- Resolves patient problems and needs by using multi-disciplinary team strategies.
- Anticipates deteriorating life sign patterns or equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate action.
- Serves as a leader by precepting and mentoring RN I, and students.
- Modifies patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses. Monitors, records and reports symptoms and changes in patients' conditions.
- Responsible for the coordination and placement of patients to include the daily bed meeting and the intra- facility transfers to ensure a well-coordinated process and collaboration with service areas involved in the admission and transfer process to ensure and facilitate patient flow.
- Maintains proficiency in bed control/bed management processes; reviews patients needing bed assignments for appropriateness and collaborates with the medical staff to ensure proper placement.
- Coordinates patient transfers to and from outside facilities and maintain accurate data entry of all transfers into the transfer log on assigned shift and reports transfers not in compliance with current policies/procedures or EMTALA statutes.
- Responds to codes throughout the hospital including collection of evaluations.
- Rounds on patient floors and emergency room daily.
- Supports staff through mentoring and acting as a resource and provide educational support as needed.

Required Qualifications:
- Nursing Diploma from an Accredited Diploma Program or Associate or higher Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- 5 years of relevant experience.
- Current licensure by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas or proof of reciprocity of licensure between the State of Texas and another state within 90 days.
- Current JPS recognized CPR certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
- Current JPS recognized Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Completion of unit specific competency-based orientation program within 90 days.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- Certification in nursing specialty area.
