Summary/Objective

This position reports to the Quality Assurance Supervisor and takes daily direction from the Sanitation Team Lead. This position is responsible for maintaining the JR Short’s Plant Sanitation Program by completing sanitation cleaning tasks while promoting safety.

The work schedule for this position is 10:00pm - 6:00am.

Essential Functions

  • Performs all sanitation operations, maintains the efficient flow of the cleaning process and facilitates ongoing sanitation programs
  • Provides daily evaluation of Sanitation needs, to plan effective use of time
  • Interface with Production & Maintenance groups to achieve maximum availability of production equipment
  • Clean, detail and sanitize the plant machines, tools, equipment as required
  • Completes paperwork daily for updating the master sanitation schedule
  • Monitor and maintain food safety and quality procedures in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
  • Administers and stores all cleaning supplies and disinfecting equipment and supplies as instructed
  • Maintains a clean and safe working area, reports unsafe hazards to QA Manager
  • Actively involved in safety meetings, make suggestions to better improve plant sanitation
  • Performs other duties or special projects as required by the QA Manager

  • Knowledge of SDS processes and procedures
  • Ability to manage and prioritize urgent requests to meet deadlines

  • Ability to communicate with all levels of plant personnel
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work various shifts as needed

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items that are 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

This is a full-time nonexempt position

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year experience in food plant sanitation
