Reports To: Associate Athletic Director/ Director Athletic Training Job Status: 12-month, Full-Time, Exempt,

Compensation Information: Salary range $66,000 – $72,800 (annually), commensurate with experience. This position is
eligible for benefits (medical, dental, vision), generous PTO and holiday schedule, 401(k) savings plan with school match,
higher education tuition reimbursement, and 50 % tuition remission for employee’s children attending JSerra. Afternoon and
evening hours are required.

Description: The Athletic Trainer assumes the responsibility and obligation of maintaining an athletic training program in all
high school sports programs to ensure the health and safety of all students, coaches and spectators. An athletic trainer is a
certified and licensed health care professional who practices in the field of sports medicine and prevents injury or re-injury
of student athletes by developing conditioning, flexibility, and rehabilitative programs. Daily duties include applying bracing
or administering therapeutic treatments as well as providing emergency first aid to injured or ill student athletes or staff.
Normal work hours are approximately noon to 8:30pm (with an unpaid 30-minute lunch).

Responsibilities

  • Athletic Trainer provides medical coverage at required practices and games as assigned including travel for playoffs
or field trips if deemed necessary

o Adhere to monthly calendar developed by Head Athletic Trainer
o Management and care for all injuries on JSerra’s athletic campus
o Documentation and follow-up for all injuries

  • Maintains the athletic training clinic
o Adhere and enforce all posted athletic training rules
o Maintain accurate records of injuries/treatments/rehab
o Communicate with physicians and other medical specialists, athletes and their parents, coaches, and
Athletic Director to provide the best possible injury outcomes.
  • Assist Director Athletic Trainer at mass-events and daily duties of the athletic training department

o Assist all athletic eligibility packets and clearances. Ensuring no ineligible athletes participate
o Assist with baseline concussion testing
o Assist record keeping and filing systems
o Assist with oversight with an inventory of supplies


Abilities, Education & Experience

  • Requires bachelor’s degree in Sports Medicine, Physiology, or similar major. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Requires Board of Certification (BOC) in Athletic Training
  • Professional Rescuer Certified or equivalent
  • Extensive knowledge of high school athletics essential


  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Current in certifications as required by JSerra, CIF, and NFHS
  • Follow professional guidelines set forth in JSerra Handbook
  • Some overnight travel (Southern California and regional US) to accompany sports teams when competing in

remote athletic competitions is required (estimated at 10% travel).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an
employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Position requires the ability to perform occasional light
lifting and carrying; occasional standing and walking; and sitting for prolonged periods of time. Occasional hand use and finger
dexterity needed to use computer keyboard and operate standard office equipment; occasional pushing, pulling, grasping,
and reaching may also be required. Good hearing is required when communicating on the telephone or in person.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is primarily performed in indoor and outdoor environments; travel from site to site;
frequently works around athletic playing fields; exposure to all types of weather and temperature conditions, blood borne
pathogens and bodily fluids. Occasional exposure to risks controlled by safety precautions.

with general employment practices in California. Under this employment relationship, Employee is free to end his/her
employment with the School for any reason at any time, with or without notice. Likewise, the School may end Employee’s
employment at any time, with or without cause or notice, pursuant to this “at-will” provision. No manager, supervisor, or
employee of the School shall have any authority to enter into an employment agreement, express or implied, with Employee
providing for employment other than at-will. With the exception of this employment “at-will” provision and the Arbitration
Agreement, any of the terms and conditions of employment with the School may be modified at the sole discretion of the
School with or without cause or notice at any time.
