Summary/Objective

The R&D Design Engineer II designs, develops, evaluates, and tests new product introductions as well as researches, designs, and develops complex original mechanisms. Primarily focuses on new and high-complexity designs and components.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Analyzes design requirements and develops design solutions.
• Collaborates with the sales team to develop conceptual design prints and renderings.
• Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
• Utilizes Creo software to produce 3D models and prints.
• Utilizes advanced analytical tools to develop and validate designs.
• Processes and publishes shop prints, design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
• Provides prototype manufacturing support to the operations department.
• Creates screenshots or renderings as requested by Sales, Marketing, Engineering, or Operations.
• Hands-on Operations support including, but not limited to: tool design, manufacturing / weld sequencing, pallet design, and shipping procedures.
• Designs for manufacturability while understanding machine and material capabilities, utilizes that knowledge to design for cost effective manufacturing processes.
• Collaborates with other mechanical, electrical, and software design staff.
• Collaborates with suppliers and has the ability to search for suppliers, discuss design projects, and understand pricing structures of new product development.
• Completes other jobs or duties as directed by the R&D Engineering Manager.
  
  

Qualifications

• Education and Experience
• High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field or Associate's degree in engineering or related field with 5 yrs experience
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field and 3 years prior mechanical design with sheet metal (Preferred)
• 3D Design Experience
• Technology
• PTC Creo Parametric / ProEngineer, Solid Works, or related CAD design programs
  

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to move about the assigned area
• Job involves working from a seated position for long periods (8-10 hrs)
• Must be able to position self to inspect products and equipment at ground level
• Must be able to move products or equipment weighing up to 10 lbs
• Must occasionally be able to work in safety sensitive role, fit for duty and free of any adverse effects of drugs or alcohol, including prescribed or over the counter drugs or other substances which may alter job performance during working times (e.g., drowsiness, impaired reflexes or reaction time, lack of concentration, etc.).
