Job Description

Position Title: Campus Athletic Coordinator
Position Type: Salaried ($58,960.00) Annual / Exempt
Position Hours: Full-time; Monday – Friday; 40 Hours per Week
Length of Term/Employment: At-will / 220 workdays

Reports to: Campus Principal and programmatic supervision by District Athletic Director

Position Mission: Work closely with the Athletic Conditioning Coaches, PE Teachers, and the Campus Administrators to ensure a vibrant extracurricular athletic activity program is properly managed at the campus for primary and secondary students.

Position Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Sport Management, or related field required. Degree may be waived in consideration of experience.

Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Coaching Experience.
  • Sports Administrative Experience.
  • Leadership.
  • High Level Communication Skills (verbal and written).

Job Duties:
  • Plan and implement campus sporting events.
  • Serve as campus Point of Contact for all leagues.
  • Organize and host tryouts for grade level teams.
  • Establish and manage schedule of practice times for all teams for each sport.
  • Establish and manage schedule of games for all teams for each sport.
  • Ensure calendar is posted on campus website and disseminated to parents after principal reviews and approves the calendar.
  • Ensure campus operations managers have the calendar.
  • Plan & organize coaches meetings to cover topics to include but not limited to:
    • Training
    • League Rules/Compliance Requirements;
    • Team Schedules;
  • Serve as the administrator in charge during games or assign personnel to serve as game administrators. Delegation of these duties must be approved by campus administrators.
  • Schedule and coordinate all events at gyms and fields.
  • Communicate with parents concerning their inquiries pertaining to the athletic program.
  • Ensure all student athletes are offered student accident insurance and maintain declination records.
  • This position will be responsible for interviewing coaches for extracurricular coaching duties and making hiring recommendations to Campus Principal. Individuals selected for coaching positions must be maintained as an email from principal.
  • Requisition stipends for all coaches at the end of each sport season.
  • Disseminate and maintain concussion and sports physical forms.
  • Work with campus administrative team, coaches, and teachers to ensure eligibility requirements are met by student-athletes.
  • Obtain campus administrator approval then submit requisitions for bus transportation to athletic events.
  • Responsible for fundraising, acquiring uniforms, compliance and eligibility, scheduling team travel, and team practices and games.
  • Coordinate with Lead Performance Coach to provide specific sports training for athletes.
  • Assure the facility is locked after games on late night or weekend use.
  • Coordinate with campus administrators to organize team parties and/or sports banquets.
  • Additional campus level contributions as determined by campus principal.

Personnel Management:
  • Ensure all volunteers and non-school employees have background check on file.
  • Ensure all volunteers transporting students have driver’s record verified.
  • Work closely with school administration, Operations Manager, and extracurricular coaches (staff or volunteers) on extracurricular scheduling.
  • Work closely with the Lead Performance Coach to coordinate strength and conditioning training sessions for all varsity teams.
  • Develop and implement a positive coaching culture that exemplifies and teaches the Covey’s Seven Habits of Effective Leaders.

Community Outreach:
  • Promote sports program with families within the community.
  • Work closely with newspaper/media personnel to promote school games and functions and oversee the reporting of scheduled games and game results.
  • Coordinate fundraising and promotional events with community organizations and businesses.
  • Develop booster clubs at campus and coordinate athletic fundraisers and banquets.

Other:
  • Attend professional growth activities to include Leader In Me staff training.
  • Strong community leader with experience in community involvement.

Supervisory Role:
  • All extracurricular personnel and campus extracurricular team coaches (staff or volunteers) during extracurricular activities.

Charter & Community Responsibilities:
  • Convey the charter’s mission to the public and encourage support in accomplishing the mission.
  • Illustrate understanding of Charter and community needs and begin activities to meet those needs.
  • Demonstrate use of productive and efficient skills to raise community and parent involvement.
  • Actively participate in student recruitment efforts.

  • Promote fairness of students and staff from all cultural backgrounds.
  • Communicate with students and staff in an effective manner that promotes and sustains the Jubilee culture.
