What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Manager position at Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival?
Program Manager, East Bay – Job Description
About the Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival
The Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival (JRMF) is a nonprofit on a mission to help all students build confidence, joy, and a sense of belonging around math. We do this by hosting Math Festivals at schools, libraries, and other community centers. At a Math Festival, children and their families explore a variety of hands-on, play-based math puzzles and games led by trained volunteers from the community. A Math Festival is an opportunity for the whole community to come together and celebrate math.
As an organization, we make hosting Math Festivals affordable, equitable, and stress-free in the following ways:
- We provide free, DIY math puzzle resources through our website.
- We provide free event planning consultations over Zoom.
- We sell Math Festival kits that are 100% reusable and organized so that customers can host a Math Festival right out of the box.
- Schools and other communities can hire us to drive out to their site, bring our Math Festival supplies, and host an event for their families.
- We provide financial assistance to low-income schools so that every school community can afford a Math Festival.
Most people grew up seeing math as hard, boring, or scary, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Math Festivals give people an opportunity to play with math, make choices about their own learning, and collaborate with others to solve fun yet challenging problems. The Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival’s mission is to bring these experiences to as many people as we can and show every child that they are a mathematician.
