Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
At Juniper Haven, we’re dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and healing environment for adolescent girls facing trauma, mental health challenges, and substance use issues. We’re currently seeking compassionate and dependable Mentors to join our team and help make a lasting impact in the lives of our residents.
About the Role
As a Mentor, you’ll be a key presence in our residents’ daily lives—providing supervision, emotional support, and encouragement. You’ll foster a therapeutic atmosphere that promotes trust, accountability, and personal growth while helping young girls work toward recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support residents throughout the day, ensuring safety, structure, and adherence to daily routines.
- Build trusting, respectful relationships with residents while modeling positive behavior and healthy boundaries.
- Facilitate daily schedules, including meals, group therapy, recreational activities, and personal hygiene routines.
- Coach residents on essential life skills like self-care, communication, and emotional regulation.
- Support therapeutic interventions and recreational outings as part of individualized treatment plans.
- Manage and de-escalate crisis situations using trauma-informed care and established protocols.
- Collaborate closely with clinical staff to monitor resident progress and maintain consistency in care.
- Accurately document resident interactions, behaviors, and incidents in a timely and confidential manner.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development.
- Coordinate with families, schools, and community partners as needed to support holistic care.
- Maintain a professional and compassionate presence at all times.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or degree in psychology, social work, or related field is a plus.
- Must be at least 20 years old.
- Prior experience in residential care, group homes, or working with adolescents is preferred.
- Understanding of trauma-informed care, adolescent development, and behavior management strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; team player mindset.
- Ability to remain calm, focused, and effective in high-pressure or crisis situations.
- Basic computer literacy and comfort with electronic documentation.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.
- Must pass background checks and meet all regulatory clearance requirements.
