What are the responsibilities and job description for the Survivor Mentor position at Justice Resource Institute?
Who we are looking for:
Are you the Survivor Mentor we have been looking for? My Life My Choice is a survivor-led pioneer in the fight to end the commercial sexual exploitation of children. We believe that no one should be bought or sold. We offer a continuum of survivor-led services, including Survivor Mentoring, intensive case management, groupwork and mental health services; exploitation prevention programming and solutions; and professional trainings and advocacy. Over the past 20 years, we have served more than 3,300 youth and trained more than 21,300 providers, in Massachusetts and nationally.
JRI provides the training so that:
- YOU will provide one-on-one support and mentoring to adolescent mentees (including youth of all genders) who have been commercially sexually exploited.
- YOU will collaborate with other My Life My Choice team members to develop appropriate support services, education, and placement plan for each mentee being served.
- YOU will work collaboratively with external service providers, including law enforcement to enhance each mentee’s safety and ability to aid in a prosecution, when appropriate.
- YOU will provide consistent and accurate documentation of each contact with mentees.
- YOU will attend regular supervision and coaching meetings, as well as staff meetings and trainings.
- YOU will receive training and professional development opportunities to grow as a survivor leader.
- YOU will co-facilitate exploitation prevention groups for adolescent youth of all genders.
- YOU will invest and involve yourself in diversity, equity, and inclusion work throughout My Life My Choice.
- YOU will be an engaged and effective ally to survivors of commercial sexual exploitation if that is not part of your own identity.

Requirements:
- Candidates must have a personal history as a survivor of commercial sexual exploitation as an adolescent or young adult. This may include exploitation through prostitution, stripping, or pornography.
- Candidates must have a minimum of five years recovery from sexual exploitation (out of the commercial sex industry).
- Candidates must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
- Candidates must a positive attitude and belief in the hope of recovery from commercial sexual exploitation.
- Candidates must a personal interest in, and commitment to, working with adolescents.
- Candidates must the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Candidates must have a current driver’s license and access to a car.
- Candidates with the ability to speak Spanish are preferred.
- Background and driving record checks will be performed.
