What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Journeyman position at K2 Electric?
POSITION SUMMARY
Ensure the safety of team members and customers. Assist Foreman to achieve project on- time completion and quality. Assist Foreman with maximizing team efficiency through coaching Apprentices and Helpers and providing input on ways to improve projects. Work with Foreman and Team to maximize a high level of customer satisfaction.
HIGH PAYOFF ACTIVITIES
Ensure Safety of Team Members and Customers
- Make safety a priority in work-related decisions.
- Identify and address safety violations. Use it as a teaching tool.
- Identify and address hazardous conditions on the job. Maintain a clean and organized jobsite.
Assist Foreman to Achieve Project On-Time Completion
- Plan and advise Foreman five days ahead of needed materials & equipment for assigned tasks.
- Review job plans weekly with Foreman, i.e., job lay-out, and equipment.
- Complete assigned projects & ensure maximum production/installation per code and K2 standards.
- Work with Apprentices and Helpers daily to ensure maximum production.
- Coach Apprentices and Helpers, ensuring installations are per code, & K2 standards reducing rework.
Assist Foreman to Achieve Project Quality Control
- Evaluate Apprentice and Helper skills in accordance with HPA’s providing performance feedback to Foreman and Workforce Development.
- Verify installations meet quality requirements per current code and K2 standards.
- Ensure installation matches contract and design documents.
- Work with Foreman on installation to maximize efficiency and minimize rework.
Work with Foreman to Maximize Team Efficiency
- Evaluate installation methods (design and prefab) and provide feedback to Foreman for improvement at each project stage.
- Coach Apprentices and Helpers for correction, speed, and efficiency.
- Ensure tracking documents are accurately reported in accordance with K2 standards.
Work with Foreman to Maximize Customer Satisfaction / Team Advancement
- Cooperate with other trades to support project teamwork and productivity.
- Communicate with Foreman concerning conflicts with other trades and advise of negative impacts in advance.
- Maintain friendly relationships with clients, owners, inspectors, employees, and future clients.
- 24 hours documented continuing education annually in your craft.
OTHER TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Must have good command of the English language - verbal and written
- Must have good trade & NEC knowledge
- Must be mechanically inclined
- Team player with good customer and people skills
- Ability to read blueprints and other technical materials
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools proficiently.
- Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must be proficient at bending conduit ½” – 2”
- Skilled and proficient at running conduit ½” – 4”
- Able to terminate and set switchgear, panels & other distribution equipment
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- At least 4 years of commercial/industrial electrical experience
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach over head – all for extended periods of time
- Must be willing to work both indoors and out at all times of the year
- Able to Climb ladders (all types) and work from scaffolds and lifts.
- Ability to lift and/or carry up to 51 pounds unassisted
