ForkLift Operator

JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY

Forklift operator shall ensure the removal of finished goods from the end of the line. Takes inventory of shift production and ensures timely delivery to shipping warehouse. Know how to use Wysis/Agility inventory system to make pallet tags and transfer them in Agility system so they can be inventoried and location known. Operator shall provide supplies to the casing equipment. Organizes and maintains semi-finished and hold items area. Operator shall maintain their forklift, packaging equipment, Fiber and consumables storage area, pallet staging area clean and organized throughout the shift.

Support the review, understanding and compliance of all programs, policies and procedures contained in the Food Safety and Quality Management System. Understand that I am responsible for reporting food safety issues observed so appropriate action can be taken. Actively participate and support the 5S and MES initiatives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

JOB FUNCTIONS

• Operator shall inspect their forklift before the start of their shift and fill out their daily forklift check sheet. Also, operator is expected to immediately report any malfunctions or damage to the equipment immediately to their supervisor.
• Removes palletized product and delivers to either warehouse A, C or D. Ensures that pallet tags correspond to finished product and that counts are correct. Relieves co-workers as necessary.
• Accurately tags each pallet with three tags and fills out production log forms and ensures that the pallets and forms correlate throughout the shift using the Wysis/Agility system.
• Startup, setup, operate and monitor packaging equipment such as palletizer and wrapping equipment and conveying systems.
• Performs daily safety and weekly sanitation checklists.
• Responsible for supplying the box former machines with fiber. Removes trash to appropriate containers. Organize and maintain semi-finished and hold items. Keeps warehouse “B” clean and organized. Keeps partial racks organized and clean. Keeps outside empty pallet staging area clean and organized.
• Understands and follows recycling program.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor or Line Lead.

Education Level and Focus:

High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Years and Type of Related Experience Required:

1-2 years forklift experience in a warehouse environment. A valid CA driver’s license

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Interpersonal and Communication:

Ability to function with minimal supervision, alertness to surrounding operations, team player, good verbal and written communication.

Technical and Analytical:

Ability to read, write, basic math skills, ability to pass written and practical forklift driving tests. Exhibits safe driving skills in a fast paced environment

Administrative and Operations:

Ability to complete inventory sheets legibly and accurately.

Physical Demands:

Agile, able to stand or sit for long periods of time, lift 40 lbs, ability to work various shifts

Work Environment:

Food plant, cold, hot and humid conditions, wet floors, high noise levels, forklift and pedestrian traffic. This is a Safety Sensitive position.
