Summary:

We're seeking someone with passion and experience in Plumbing Technology to join our team at the new Kalamazoo RESA Career Connect Campus. In this role, you'll develop and deliver dynamic career and technical education curriculum, preparing students for success in the plumbing industry. As part of our team, you'll collaborate with fellow instructors and industry experts to launch the brand-new, state-of-the-art Career Connect Campus opening in August 2025. This facility will be a beacon of innovation, providing students with hands-on learning experiences that mirror real-world work environments.

 

At the Career Connect Campus, you'll serve as an instructor and have the opportunity to deepen your instructional skills through ongoing professional development while preparing students for local career opportunities. Join us in creating a world-class educational environment where students can thrive and build pathways to meaningful careers! Previous teaching/training experience is welcomed, but not required.

 

 

Essential Duties and  Responsibilities:

  • Develop innovative instructional strategies tailored to plumbing technology curriculum standards.
  • Partner with the Career Connect team and industry leaders to prepare state-of-the-art equipment, specific to your instructional area and related career field(s).
  • Foster interdisciplinary learning by designing cross-program projects that expose students to diverse career pathways.
  • Play an integral role in recruitment efforts, summer campus programs, and promotional campaigns.
  • Design engaging lessons leveraging the Career Connect Campus environment.
  • Prepare students for industry credentials in plumbing technology.
  • Cultivate an inclusive classroom environment and promote KRESA’s ABAR principles.
  • Engage in instructional coaching for professional development.
  • Design effective assessments to monitor student progress.
  • Fulfill all necessary documentation requirements mandated by the Michigan Department of Education Office of Career and Technical Education.
  • Maintain communication with stakeholders and uphold instructional reliability.
  • Collaborate with the Career Connect team on multifaceted projects leading up to the grand opening of the Career Connect Campus.
  • Establish clear and consistent communication channels with students, parents/guardians, KRESA CTE staff, school counselors, and other stakeholders to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance to uphold instructional consistency and reliability.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Must qualify for Annual Career Authorization which includes having two years (4,000 hours) of current, industry-related experience in the last ten years.

                 OR

  • Must hold State Secondary Provisional Certification with the CIP code endorsement appropriate to CTE courses in the pathways listed above.

Physical Demands:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The employee is frequently required to reach with arms and hands, stand walk and sit. The employee may frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
School environment where there may be physical discomfort due to temperature, dust or the like, depending on location of CTE program (i.e., computer lab vs. auto shop). Noise level in this environment may be moderate to loud. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the district.
