Job Summary:

The Medication Technician is responsible for safely administering medications to residents or patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse and in accordance with state regulations and facility policies. This role ensures accurate medication distribution, documentation, and monitoring, while also supporting the overall health and well-being of individuals in a residential or healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately prepare and administer medications to residents per physician orders and facility protocols.

• Document medication administration and any observations in accordance with facility procedures and state guidelines.

• Monitor residents for adverse reactions to medications and report any concerns to nursing staff immediately.

• Maintain proper storage, security, and inventory of medications and related supplies.

• Assist residents with daily living activities as needed (e.g., grooming, hygiene, mobility).

• Communicate effectively with nurses, physicians, residents, and families.

• Follow infection control, safety, and confidentiality protocols.

• Attend required training sessions and stay up to date with certifications.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

• Completion of a state-approved Medication Technician training program.

• Current certification as a Medication Technician (Med Tech) in [State].

• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

• At least 6 months of experience in a healthcare or assisted living environment preferred.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.

Working Conditions:

• May involve lifting, turning, or assisting residents.

• Exposure to infectious diseases and bodily fluids.

• Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
