What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodial Building Head position at Kalispell Public Schools?
The Custodial Building Head is relied on to set an example for other staff at their designated site, to assist the supervisor in the site-specific staffing, training, and procedures, and to provide after hours support for programs. They must be a self-starter, be able to problem solve and respond appropriately in different situations, and they must be able to communicate effectively with students, staff, and the community.

This is a full-time, year-round position with a competitive starting wage is $16.67/hr.

Job Responsibilities:
- Leads staff in providing custodial services in designated areas under the direction of Custodial Supervisor.
- Assists in the coordination of building access and security. Provides support to after-hours programs.
- Provides input to Custodial Supervisor on staffing, training, and custodial processes.
- Sweeps, mops, and polishes in rooms and halls.
- Dusts and/or polishes furniture, blinds and equipment.
- Cleans restrooms and fills dispensers.
- Vacuums, spot cleans and/or shampoos rugs, carpets, and furniture using commercial vacuum cleaners and shampooing equipment.
- Reports malfunctions of bathroom fixtures, light fixtures and/or damages to room and hall furnishings to supervisor.
- Stocks area with appropriate supplies.
- Locks and unlocks doors as directed.
- Moves furniture, equipment or fixtures as required.
- Works in unison with school and Facilities Services staff. Actively promotes teamwork.
- May shovel and remove snow and ice from designated areas such as sidewalks, entryways and roofs as required.
- May replace light bulbs.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent; AND,
- Custodial operations experience in commercial or institutional facilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in leading and monitoring the work of custodial staff.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand on feet for extended periods of time, stoop, bend, lift and carry items up to 40 pounds.
- This is a Heavy Duty job, according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles, U.S. Department of Labor and Industry. Heavy Duty involves exertion of up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25-50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds continuously to move objects.
