The Operations and Technology Specialist at the Kane County Regional Office of Education (ROE) ensures that all technological and operational systems of the office meet the needs of both staff and those seeking services through the ROE. By maintaining and improving current systems and developing new systems that support the work of the entire ROE, this position is a critical link to support those the ROE serves.
Bachelor's Degree in field of technology is required. Relevant experience in education, operations, or technology is preferred.
Performance Responsibilities
- Respond to helpdesk technical support requests.
- Maintain Technology Lab(s) with proper image.
- Maintain all mobile devices available to staff and visitors.
- Maintain and upgrade the wireless network, firewall, filter, and other network systems.
- Perform ongoing system maintenance of all systems, both client and server.
- Manage system backup and disaster recovery processes.
- Troubleshoots, researches, and resolves hardware and software issues regarding all building devices and software.
- Prepare technology resources for workshops and meetings.
- Manage technology inventories and checkout.
- Support the Juvenile Justice Center with technical needs.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and other departments within the ROE in the execution of office functions, programming and work.
- Participate in relevant professional learning opportunities sufficient to ensure professional growth in meeting the needs of the position.
- Exhibit an excellent attendance record.
- Maintain a professional and welcoming environment conducive to supporting those the ROE serves and staff collaboration.
- Any and all responsibilities assigned by the Director of Operations and Technology or Regional Superintendent.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:
- Competent in Windows server, VMWare, Networking, and Internet protocols.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Apple OS X, Linux and mobile operating systems.
- Knowledge of Google Apps, Office 365, SQL, Juniper Wireless, and Fortigate Firewall/Filtering.
- Proficiency in coding languages, including but not limited to PHP, HTML and Javascript.
- Knowledge of FileMaker, both client and server.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
- Ability to work after hours and weekends.
- Strong skills in hardware and software problem resolution.
- Working knowledge and skills in computer and database systems, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; proficiency in Google applications is preferred.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to receive constructive feedback, self-reflect and modify practice as needed.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle and current automobile insurance.
Salary Range: $50,000 - $60,000 per year
