Kansas Athletics is seeking enthusiastic, reliable, and customer-focused individuals to join our event guest services team.
Position Summary:
The Guest Services position will play a crucial role in creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere for fans, athletes, and guests during sporting events, and other special events held at our athletic facilities. The guest services team will work in various capacities to ensure smooth event execution, assist with crowd control, provide excellent customer service, and maintain safety protocols.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Position
- Initiate a personal and warm welcoming atmosphere to assigned entrance, aisle, concourse or other location, and a sincere thank you upon completion of each encounter with guests;
- Assist guests as they arrive at the facility by: providing event information, guiding them to their seats, addressing seating concerns/inquiries, and accommodating special needs patrons while ensuring a positive experience for each guest;
- Allow appropriate entry into each facility by: scanning tickets, verifying wristbands and credentials, and directing fan ingress and egress of foot traffic for each facility;
- Monitor gates, entrances, and exits to ensure security and safety protocols are followed;
- Enforce venue policies including but not limited to: ticketing, seating, clear-bag, and prohibited items;
- Respond to guest inquiries and provide assistance as needed to address concerns or issues promptly and professionally;
- Assist with emergency procedures or evacuations when necessary while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor;
- Assist with implementation of guest service initiatives at all sporting events;
- Collaborate with other event staff to deliver a seamless event experience.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
- Previous experience in event management, customer service, or a similar field preferred;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-first attitude;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment;
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods and lift up to 25 pounds;
- Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays;
- Knowledge of Kansas Athletics and a passion for sports is a plus.
Work Environment
This job operates in both indoor and outside at sports-related events, including inclement weather. This role routinely uses various digital devices, including, but not limited to: ticket scanner or a radio. This job requires flexibility and adaptability in schedule and the ability to perform job related duties on short notice.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This position may require frequent bending, moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 25 pounds; standing up to eight hours each day; and working in all weather conditions.

Hours of Work
This is a part-time position. Days and hours of work will vary based on the needs of the related event and as job duties demand. Early morning, evening and weekend work is required.
