Kansas Municipal Energy Agency (KMEA) is recruiting for a Field Services Technician I--III. The position will perform construction activities including installation of foundations, conduit, grounding grids, steel assembly, electrical bus work and wire pulling. The employee in this position is responsible for exercising judgment as to the details of assigned work within prescribed operating procedures. This position will also assists in maintenance activities as well as other work assigned by the employer. Work is performed according to departmental procedures, practices, and safety regulations. Successful candidate will be slotted into the appropriate level I, II or III based on skill set and experience.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

Field Technician I employees are expected to have nominal experience of 0-3 years and meet all other objectives of the role in order to be considered for progression.

Field Technician II employees are expected to have between 3-6 years of experience and meet all other objectives of the role in order to be considered for progression.

Field Technician III employees are expected to have between 6-9 years of experience and meet all other objectives of the role in order to be considered for progression.

All employees are expected to exhibit exemplary customer service skills, both with external customers, vendors, visitors, co-workers, and management staff. Their written and verbal communication skills should be concise and effective, they should aspire to excellence in both work and customer service, they should show courtesy to all they encounter while representing the Agency. They are also expected to maintain an air of professionalism in their interpersonal relationships and personal grooming, exercise confidentiality concerning the affairs of the business, exhibit a willingness to learn, willingness to solve problems and willingness to step in to help others, and openly and actively participate in the direction of our Agency. KMEA views each of these traits as performance indicators, and employee appraisals reflect each of these attributes as an element of performance upon which employees are rated;

Extensive knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the energy business, specifically, with standard practices, materials, tools and equipment used in the electric trade;

Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety practices and procedures;

Demonstrate organization, facilitation, communication and presentation skills;

Ability to prioritize workflow and organize diverse material and ability to handle multiple, competing and changing priorities; ability to perform effectively without supervision and within established time limits and ongoing deadlines;

Ability to interact effectively and professionally, and provide exceptional service, both internally and externally at all times.

Equipment/Tools Used:

Equipment: bobcat, excavator, genie lift, ditch witch, load recorders, , pickup, trailers, megger amp meter, Pf meter, backhoe, underground cable locates and fault locaters, air compressors, , voltmeter, wire puller, wire stands and lights.

Power Tools: Hydraulic crimper & tamper, circular saw, grinder, phasing sticks, chop saw, concrete saw, earth packer, jackhammer, cordless drill, electric drill, air compressors, and pipe threader.

Manual Tools: Shovels, screwdrivers, chain hoist, hammer, hardline, nut drivers, rope blocks, hot sticks, shotgun hot sticks, crimpers, wire cutters, grips, cant hook, cable slings, channel locks, crescent wrenches, proto set, ladders, tape measure, lineman pliers, saws, tree loppers, climbing gear, knockout cutter, knives, conduit bender, and knockout set.

Other equipment, power tools, and manual tools as required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.80 - $38.50 per hour
