What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Team Lead position at Kao Corporation?
The role:
The is an exciting position to join our corporate HR team and lead all payroll activities for Kao Americas!
We have Workday Payroll and would ideally want someone with this experience.
This will include the reconciliation and reporting of all payroll taxes, and ensuring employees are paid accurately and in compliance will applicable laws, in the most efficient and accurate manner possible. The position acts as subject matter expert, executing assigned deliverables for Payroll.
The position requires the ability to research and analyze federal, state, and local tax regulations, to make recommendations to management, and ensure Company compliance with state and local payroll tax. The position leads and assists other payroll staff during payroll processing, setting up new tax locations, monitoring and updating tax rates, researching and analyzing state and local licensing laws and exemptions and applying for and maintaining all new licenses and renewals to ensure compliance.
The position is responsible for successful processing of W-2’s and ensuring accuracy for quarterly and year end activities which include balancing for W-2’s and reconciling tax adjustments as needed.
What you will do:
- Process all Kao U.S. employees' hourly and salary/exempt payrolls and compile payroll information by managing payroll preparation, completing reports and maintaining records
- Own day-to-day payroll escalations, communicate escalations for awareness and management of further escalation
- Calculate Hourly shift differentials, overtime, double time for each pay cycle
- Remains current on changes in payroll and tax law and makes recommendations for changes in procedures to Compensation and Benefits Managers
- Ensure accuracy for quarterly and yearend activities including balancing for W-2’s and reconciling tax adjustments as needed
- Processes Commissions, STI, Bonuses, one-time payments, etc.
- Processes and reconciles severance payments
- Processes Leave of Absence disability payments
- Performs routine payroll system maintenance and upgrades as needed
- Continually maintains internal payroll procedures documentation
- Performs regular internal audits of payroll data and reports (i.e., 401(k) match report)
- Lead in coordinating internal and external audit compliance
What you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or a minimum of 5 years of professional work experience in payroll
- CPP preferred but not necessary
- 5 years of payroll administration experience with multiple payrolls and wage types
- Workday payroll or HCM experience of 2 years
- Understanding of regulatory and legislative guidelines
- In depth knowledge and understanding of HR, payroll, tax, accounting, and project management
- Strong computer and software skills (e.g., Microsoft Office products – Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
- Knowledge and understanding of best practices and service delivery models
- Knowledge of ADP GlobalView payroll database preferred
A reasonable salary range is: $75,000 - $100,000.
