What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilitator - GT (Secondary) position at Katy ISD?

Reports to:                Director of GT/AAS  

Duty Days:                187 days

Wage/Hour Status:   Exempt

Pay Grade:                 I01

 

Qualifications:

 

Certified Texas Teacher 

30 hours of GT Required Training 

GT Certificate preferred 

Secondary teaching experience preferred 

 

Primary Purpose:

 

Manage the GT identification process and documentation of service to GT students on the secondary campus. 

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate and manage the G/T identification process at the campus, including disseminating information and screening results to parents, staff, and students; researching and collecting student data; arranging for and/or administering necessary testing; and serving on the Campus Selection Committee. 
  2. Adhere to published screening and reporting deadlines. 
  3. Convey TEA rules and guidelines to the campus as needed. 
  4. Publicize opportunities for GT screenings, orientations, and parent meetings in campus newsletter, enews, website and/or other communication methods. 
  5. Establish/maintain accurate student records related to GT identification and GT service. 
  6. Verify PEIMS data on designated timeline throughout the school year. 
  7. Serve as PEIMS input person for GT data in student management system. 
  8. Consult with counselors regarding scheduling, student placement and verification of student placement. 
  9. Work with counselors to verify accurate scheduling of student services. 
  10. Communicate with parents about the GT program and respond to questions and concerns. 
  11. Serve as a liaison between the district GT office and the campus. 
  12. Distribute information to the campus staff, students, teachers and parents as requested by the GT/AAS department
  13. Attend GT facilitator meetings as scheduled. 
  14. Provide information about GT professional development requirements and opportunities to campus staff. 
  15. Provide support and serve as a resource for teachers on issues related to the GT program. 
  16. Monitor GT student academic progress and facilitate academic interventions as needed. 
  17. Apprise students of curriculum options and enrichment opportunities outside the school day.
  18. Serve as an advocate for gifted children. 
  19. Consult with the principal with regard to all of the above upon request. 
  20. Other duties as assigned.

Personal Computer, printer, copier and fax machine

 

Working Conditions:

 

Work with frequent interruptions, maintain control under stress. Frequent district wide travel, occasional statewide travel. Frequent standing and sitting. Ability to see, hear, talk, stoop, push, and pull. Prolonged use of computer; repetitive hand motions.
