KaylaTek is seeking a Operations Watch Technician to work night shift at Joint Base Andrews, MD who will be responsible for for monitoring the Air Force National Capital Region network and critical services using System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), SolarWinds, and site-specific tools.


JOB SUMMARY:
The AFNCR IT Services program provides support services for information systems for Headquarters Air Force (HAF), Air Force District of Washington (AFDW), Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Joint Chiefs of Staff, and other Air Force activities within the AFNCR missions to include the Pentagon, Joint Base Andrews (JBA), Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB), and other locations, leased spaces, and alternate sites.

CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: CompTIA Security CE or IAT Level II equivalent


SECURITY CLEARANCE:
Currently possess an active Secret clearance


SHIFT: Night Shirt - 100% Full time on-site (includes ad-hoc telework)

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Operations Watch Technician is a critical role within the Cyber Support Center (CySC), responsible for monitoring the Air Force National Capital Region network and critical services using System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), SolarWinds, and site-specific tools
  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting on authorized service interruptions.
  • Responsible for outages, determining impacted services, and communicating this information to technicians and other work centers who are impacted
  • Responsible for monitoring and managing the status of the Wide Area Network, receiving support calls for connectivity issues, performing incident management and service restoration activities using a suite of automation tools and working with long haul carriers.
  • Provides proactive problem management and customer reporting. Service issues that cannot be resolved by Tiers 1 and 2 support are escalated to internal Tier 3 support for advanced troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Flexible to work in shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience and certifications
  • 5 to 7 years of previous experience working in a 24/7 operations center
  • Experience working in Remedy Ticketing application
  • Experience with Solar Winds
  • Experience with System Center Operations Manager (SCOM)
  • Strong technical background and a fundamental understanding of Windows Servers, networking, DHCP, subnetting, other IT disciplines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Active DOD Security Clearance - will be verified by FSO
  • Current DoD 8570 baseline certification for IAT II (one of the following: GSEC, Security , SCNP and SSCP certifications)
