This role is perfect for an educator who loves working with children, values cultural connection, and thrives in a joyful, community-centered environment.About the RoleAs our Mandarin Teacher, you will create a safe, fun, and developmentally appropriate learning space where elementary-aged students build Mandarin language skills and cultural understanding. This position blends structured Mandarin instruction with the warmth and energy of an after-school and summer camp setting.You’ll collaborate closely with Extended Day staff, classroom teachers, and school leadership to ensure programming aligns with Kids Connection’s mission and student-centered values.Key ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Program LeadershipPlan and teach engaging, age-appropriate Mandarin lessonsSupport listening, speaking, reading, and cultural learningIncorporate hands-on activities, games, music, art, and celebrationsDifferentiate instruction for varying language levelsSupport homework time when part of the schedulePrepare students for performances and school showcases as neededStudent Supervision & CareSupervise students to ensure safety and positive behaviorBuild trusting relationships that foster confidence and belongingParticipate fully in program activities, including outdoor play and special eventsTeamwork & CommunicationCollaborate with Extended Day staff and school leadershipCommunicate student progress and needs professionallyAssist with classroom setup, cleanup, and organizationTransportation (as needed)Drive Kids Connection vans for school pick-ups or eventsFollow all safety and transportation protocolsQualificationsRequiredBachelor’s degree (Education, Chinese Language, or related field preferred)Minimum 2 years of experience teaching Mandarin to childrenNative or near-native Mandarin proficiencyStrong classroom management and communication skillsValid California driver’s license and clean driving recordCPR certification (or willingness to obtain)Ability to meet fingerprinting and licensing requirementsPreferredBackground in TCSOL/TCFL or elementary educationYear-round availability, including summer programmingBilingual English/Mandarin communication skillsSchedule & Employment DetailsSchool Year: Monday–Friday, approximately 12:00–6:00 pmSummer: Morning hours; schedule varies30 hours/week = full-time employmentWhy Kids Connection?At Kids Connection, we believe learning should be joyful, inclusive, and rooted in strong relationships.
