General Information:
The Compounding Manager is responsible for leading the Compounding department in the performance of daily operations, achieving business results and strategic planning of the department’s goals so the company can meet production and financial objectives.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Chemistry or related technical field. In lieu of degree a minimum of 10 years previous experience in a Compounding role is required.
- Three to five years progressive experience in a chemical compounding environment, preferably in cosmetics or pharmaceutical.
- Minimum of five years previous supervisory experience.

- Leads, assigns and manages the activities of the Compounding department (e.g. raw material management, pre-weigh, batching) to ensure optimal results in safety, quality, productivity and cost; monitors, measures and analyzes performance data across all shifts and puts plans in place to address shortfalls and deficiencies in performance.
- Prioritizes daily activities based on production schedule and work sessions; ensures on time and in full completion of batches according to the production schedule to meet customer needs; partners with other departments to coordinate business activities by processes and systems.
- Trains, coaches and develops employees within the department to ensure performance expectations and department objectives are met according to established standards (e.g. SOPs and Work Instructions, GMPs, safety and environmental protection); manages performance expectations, delivers feedback and ensures that customer quality and documentation standards are understood and followed at all times.
- Leads and/or delegates department investigations of non-conformities, errors and safety incidents to ensure that root causes have been identified and appropriate corrective and preventive measures are implemented.
- Determines capital expenditures required to meet business needs and ensures continuously improving productivity through batch cycle time reductions; develops long-term infrastructure plans.
- Partners with quality and engineering teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement of equipment, methods and processes that improve cycle time, capacity and overall productivity.
- Completes employee performance reviews, preliminary budgetary information, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WIs), and other paperwork according to established company policy.
- Maintains confidentiality of employee personnel records and salary information, customer and product information and recipes other sensitive and confidential information.
- Exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works outside of the normal schedule as needed due to workplace demands (e.g., supporting off-shifts). Performs other related duties as required.
