What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Agent position at Keany Produce Company?
The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for managing the commodities assigned and always maintaining sufficient inventory levels in stock for current business volume. This position will also be responsible for achieving margin goals on all products purchased while purchasing sufficient quantities on specific contracts to remain in compliance for individual concepts. Finally, the agent will need to manage the inventory to minimize shrink for products within his/her scope.
Essential Job Functions:
- Enter POs to maintain sufficient inventory levels for current business volume
- Purchase sufficient quantities on specific contracts to remain in compliance for individual concepts
- Communicate with other department members concerning potential shortages, and searching for assistance as needed to maintain sufficient inventory levels
- Leverage relationships with existing suppliers, and search out potential new suppliers to achieve cost savings on products and freight charges
- Follow up with shippers on any problems that arise, specifically monitor all quality issues for disposition of unusable product and credits required for the same
- Insure that specific purchases are made weekly for necessary pricing requirements as needed
- Respond to all requests from sales associates concerning requests for products, special orders, inquiries about product information
- Liaison with Quality Control and Inventory to maintain sellable product throughout the shelf life
- Communicate with warehouse, customer service, and shipping departments concerning product issues, shortages, returns, transfers, etc.
- Coordinate with precut department to maintain proper levels of product needed for production
- Coordinate with transportation department concerning any specific pickups or delivery requirements
- Communicate with other purchasing department members in problem solving and achievement of departmental and individual goals and results
Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree
- 2 to 3 Years Supply Chain/ Logistic Experience
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and accounting software.
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- Oral and Written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
