Adjunct Instructor – Media Writing Fundamentals (Fall 2025)

Keene State College, Journalism

The Journalism Program at Keene State College invites applications for an adjunct instructor to teach IHJRN 130: Media Writing Fundamentals during the Fall 2025 semester. This introductory course emphasizes core writing skills for journalism and media, including news judgment, clarity, accuracy, and audience awareness across platforms. Students will develop foundational reporting and writing abilities through practical assignments and critical analysis.

The required textbook is Writing and Reporting for the Media, by Bender et al.

Responsibilities Include

  • Teaching one section of IHJRN 130
  • Developing syllabi, assignments, and grading consistent with program goals
  • Using Writing and Reporting for the Media to guide instruction and skill development
  • Engaging students in writing-intensive, hands-on learning
  • Holding regular office hours (in person or virtual)

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in journalism, communication, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Demonstrated teaching ability or relevant professional experience in journalism or media writing
  • Commitment to inclusive, student-centered teaching

This is a part-time, non-benefited position.
