JOB DESCRIPTION: TEACHER (Early Childhood)

JOB SUMMARY:

The job of the teacher at Kehoe-France Northshore is to plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

● Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that are specific to the content area and align with Teaching Strategies Gold objectives.

● Ensure lesson plan timelines are met.

● Adapt classroom activities, assignments and/or materials (e.g. art projects, computer, language skills, etc.) for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom goals and objectives.

● Support other classroom teachers for the purpose of assisting them in the implementation of the established curriculum.

● Engage students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments (e.g. read stories, providing writing assistance, reinforce language skills, numbers, alphabet, computer learning programs, etc.) for the purpose of practicing and/or reinforcing learning concepts and assisting students in reaching academic goals and developmental milestones.

● Ensure effective use of digital platforms to support instruction and communication (including but not limited to Seesaw, Engage, and email).

● Administer formative and summative assessments for the purpose of measuring developmental growth.

● Communicate tasks to assistant for the purpose of implementing classroom objectives.

● Maintain classroom equipment, work area, and records (e.g. clean/bleach tables, sign-in/sign-out logs, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items; providing written reference; providing a safe learning environment; and/or meeting mandated requirements.

● Manage individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. classroom, playground, field trips, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.

● Report observations and incidents relating to specific students (e.g. accidents, fights, appropriate and/or inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safety conditions, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate instructional and/or administrative personnel.

● Attend meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.

● Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

● Be familiar with and adhere to Type II state regulations, school policies and procedures, emergency drills, and safeguarding guidelines.

● Attend professional development meetings and workshops to meet state guidelines.

● Assist in diaper changing, bottle feeding, snack and lunch time, play time, stroller rides, etc.

● Perform tasks as directed by the principal and/or Preschool Director.

● Be an active advocate of Kehoe-France Northshore’s vision, mission, and promises.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: lifting (up to 50 pounds), carrying, squatting, pushing, and/or pulling. Generally the job requires sitting, walking, and standing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma

This position is conditional to the provision of federal criminal background checks covering the countries that you have lived and worked in for the last 10 years and any convictions highlighted will be reviewed against standard Safeguarding principles of working with children. All checks requested to be received prior to commencement of employment. Additionally, all employees are required to be drug tested upon hire. The school also will require random drug tests.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $25,000.00 - $30,000.00 per year
