Japanese Translator

Kelly is seeking a Japanese Bilingual Translator to work for a global automotive manufacturer in Huntsville, AL, for a long term contract.

Pay: $34 / hr - $36 / hr - Commensurate with Experience

1st Shift: 8 am - 5 pm Monday - Friday (some overtime)

Top 3 Requirements:

1. Fluent in Japanese (reading, writing, speaking)

2. High School Diploma / GED

3. 1 yr experience as translator or interpreter

Office Skills: MS Office (especially MS Word & Excel)

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Bilingual Translator who will listen, understand and translate from one language to another (written & spoken).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)

• The ideal candidate will have prior professional experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Responsible for listening to, understanding, and translating spoken or written statements from one language to another.
• Reproduce statements in another language for unique listening or reading audience.
• Facilitate effective communication between two parties that do not speak a similar language by converting one spoken or written language to another.
• Attend conferences and meetings and act as official translator to mediate discussion.
• Relay concepts and ideas between languages.
• Convert written materials from one language into another, such as books, publications, or web pages.
• Create a new text in the target language that reproduces the content and style of the original.
• Edit and proofread text to accurately reflect language.
• Use dictionaries and glossaries for reference.
• Employ computer-assisted translation.
• Facilitate communication for people with limited English proficiency.
• Interpret both legal terminology and colloquial language.
• Read aloud documents in a language other than that in which they were written.
• Accompany foreign visitor and facilitate communication between receiving party and visitors.

Basic qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED
• Fluent in Japanese (spoken & written)
• 1 years’ experience in a Translator or Interpreter role, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Japanese language skill (Reading, Writing, Speaking)
• Good communication skills; collaborative mindset; customer service skills
