Position Summary:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Auto Parts Counterperson to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist customers in identifying, locating, and purchasing automotive parts and accessories, while delivering excellent service and maintaining an organized and efficient parts department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet walk-in customers and respond to phone inquiries in a friendly and professional manner
- Identify correct parts for customer needs using parts catalogs, databases, or VIN lookups
- Provide technical guidance and product knowledge to assist customers in selecting the right parts
- Process sales transactions accurately using point-of-sale systems
- Check inventory and stock shelves as needed
- Keep store area clean, and organized
- Receive, inspect, and organize incoming parts shipments
- Work closely with technicians and service advisors to fulfill parts requests in a timely manner
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked parts counter and storeroom
- Follow up on backordered or special-order parts and communicate status to customers
- Uphold safety and company policies at all times
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in automotive parts sales or a similar role preferred
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems and components
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Proficient in using parts lookup systems and point-of-sale software
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical training a plus)
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
Preferred Traits:
- ASE Parts Specialist Certification (a plus)
- Passion for the automotive industry and a desire to learn continuously
- Must have a valid driver's license
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will predominantly be walking or standing. The employee is required to be able to talk and hear, and use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.50 - $23.00 per hour
