Manage bookkeeping, recordkeeping and other office functions for a busy, successful single-location retail & service business. Half time position, may be combined with other duties in the company (if qualified) to obtain full-time employment. Common tasks include: Track invoices and statements, communicate with vendors and record numerical data to keep financial records complete and accurate. Prepare and process reports for Payroll, Benefits, Sales Tax and other functions on schedule. Monitor, open, record (or distribute to appropriate person in the company) and file email, physical mail, phone calls and needed online information.
Duties
Duties of the position will include:
- Record numerical data from invoices, credits, statements and other documents received.
- Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy and proper codes.
- Operate computers programmed with accounting software to record, store, and analyze information.
- Track personnel data including scheduling, hours worked, compliance with regulations, confidential employee information, eligibility for benefits and bonuses.
- Keep confidential records secure.
- Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations.
- Debit, credit, and total accounts on computer spreadsheets and databases, using provided accounting software.
- Track sales tax collection and prepare needed sales tax payments and returns.
- Process and/or record payments to vendors, including mailing check payments.
- Classify, record, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records, using journals and ledgers or computers.
- Access computerized financial information to answer general questions as well as those related to specific accounts.
- Operate computers, calculators and copy machines to perform calculations and produce documents.
- Reconcile or note and report discrepancies found in records.
- Perform general office duties, such as filing, answering telephones, and handling routine correspondence.
- Calculate and prepare checks for utilities, taxes, and other payments.
- Reconcile records of bank transactions.
- Prepare trial balances of books.
- Monitor status of loans and accounts to ensure that payments are up to date.
- Complete and submit tax forms and returns, workers' compensation forms, pension contribution forms, and other government documents.
- Other duties as assigned.
