As a Battery Technician, you’ll be responsible for assemble, install, inspect, and maintain batteries in various devices, from cars and other heavy machinery to power plants.
Functions
- Removes and disassembles cells and inspects parts to detect defects.
- Replaces defective parts, reassembles battery, and fuses lead parts with gas torch.
- Fills cells with acid solution and determines specific gravity of solution.
- Adds acid or water to obtain specified concentration.
- Attaches charger leads to battery posts or connector and starts charger.
- Reads meters and adjusts charge parameters to control time and flow of current through battery.
- Ability to perform discharge tests, evaluates results, and makes necessary repairs.
- Washes, cleans, and neutralizes customers batteries at customer location or in the service center.
- Repairs battery charging equipment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Knowledge of using, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing electrical and battery testing equipment.
- Knowledge of battery safety best practices and industry standards, related to the testing, storage and disposal of lithium-ion and lithium primary cells and batteries.
- Physical stamina and mobility including ability to reach, kneel and bend.
- Ability to lift, push and pull required load (usually about 30lbs).
Salary : $35,000 - $44,300
