General Description:
The Lumber Grader shall work
to ensure actions reflect the company culture, work meets or exceeds company standards, values and working environment and actions reflect that as outlined by the Sawmill
Manager and will support the development and execution of the safety mission at Kennebec Lumber Company. This position ensures proper grading and inspection of all boards in compliance with National Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA) standards and KLC guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Know and understand NHLA grading rules for each species of lumber.
- Know and understand customer specific grade sorts.
- Able to properly use lumber grading ruler.
- Ensure each board is graded and marked appropriately.
- Maintain grading accuracy within KLC guidelines.
- Monitor board quality for sawing variation and other defects.
- Ensure that the stacking line is properly sorting the boards per the grading mark.
- Wear all required PPE.
- Maintain a clean work area.
- Follow all change over and end of day procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
