What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Health Nurse - Children's Special Health Care Services position at Kent County?

This Public Health Nurse position has the ability to work remotely/hybrid (remote/office) with required attendance at in-person meetings as well as other designated in office hours. Selected candidates who have been approved to work hybrid must complete that work within Michigan. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. No weekends, holidays, or nights. Occasional special events may require evening or weekend participation.
Kent County Health Department is currently seeking a full-time Public Health Nurse with a passion for working with children and families, for the Children’s Specialist Health Care Services program (CSHCS). The CSHCS program offers a unique opportunity for nurses to use their educational background in more of a casework type environment. The successful candidate will provide public health nursing services to families of children with special health needs. Individual will coordinate care between families, the State of Michigan, and community resources. Educating families on services and resources provided. Much of the education and coordination is done via telephone with a small amount of home visiting required for more complex cases.

2024 Starting Wages
$30.45 - A Step: Associate Degree in Nursing with 36 months or less experience as a Registered Nurse.
$31.57 - B Step: Associate Degree in Nursing with 37 months to 60 months of experience as a Registered Nurse.
$32.96 - C Step: Bachelor of Science in Nursing with 36 months or less of experience as a Registered Nurse; or Associate Degree in Nursing with 61 months or more of experience as a Registered Nurse.
$34.04 - D Step: Bachelor of Science in Nursing with 37 months or more experience as a Registered Nurse.
Graduation from a National League of Nursing accredited nursing institution and current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan. Ability to interact positively with clients, co-workers, health care and human service practitioners and community representatives from widely diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
