What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Enforcement Officer position at Kent County?
The Kent County Sheriff Department is seeking individuals to fill current and future Security Enforcement Officer openings at the Kent County Courthouse, 63rd District Court and other County facilities. Individuals will be responsible for screening persons and their effects entering the courthouse; and for maintaining order and security in the courthouse and other County facilities. Additional duties include operating security screening equipment and devices; assisting court security staff with apprehending individuals suspected of committing illegal acts within the courthouse and other County facilities; and escorting judges, court personnel, witnesses and jurors to and from the courthouse and facilities to ensure their safety. May require evening hours
The Security Enforcement Officer positions require a high school diploma (or equivalent) and a responsible work history. A valid Michigan driver's license is required. Must have the ability to interact positively with individuals from widely divergent cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Desire Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) certification or proof of certifiability. Previous experience as law enforcement professional, corrections certification or background desired. The successful applicants will function as part of a highly motivated, team-oriented group of law enforcement professionals. These positions are part-time (no benefits) and incumbents may work up to 1,000 hours in a calendar year. In order to qualify, candidates are subject to detailed personal, work and criminal background investigations and drug testing. The successful candidates must be of sound character, demonstrate a responsible work history, be free of felony convictions and possess a good driving record.
