What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Counselor - Long-Term Coverage for Fam position at Kent Denver school?

Kent Denver School is seeking an Upper School Counselor to work with students in grades 9-12. This is a long-term coverage position for an employee taking family leave from late January 2025 through May 2025. The Counselor will work under the supervision of the Director of Wellness and will be a key member of the student wellness team. The ideal applicant for this position will have a master's or doctorate degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy with current licensure in Colorado and experience as a teacher or counselor at the high school level. Counselors who have worked in other clinical settings with adolescents are also encouraged to apply.

Essential job responsibilities include :

Providing solutions focused counseling to students and their families and facilitating a warm referral to outpatient services when necessary.

Collaborating with the school's learning specialists, nurse, and deans to facilitate social-emotional interventions that advance a student's educational needs.

Working closely with a student's parents / caregivers as well as outpatient medical providers to coordinate mental health care.

Supporting staff, faculty, and coaches in social-emotional learning and creating a culture and climate of belonging.

Helping us to innovate the integration of health and wellness into the daily life of Kent Denver students and employees.

Successful candidates will possess the following :

A master's or doctorate degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy.

Current licensure (LP, LCSW, LPC, LMFT) in Colorado.

Commitment to lifelong professional growth.

A belief in the central importance of diversity and inclusion in the life of the school.

A commitment to culturally responsive practices to support the well-being of all students in our community.

Deep knowledge in child and adolescent development and the challenges faced by students in middle and high school.

Energy, flexibility, enthusiasm, and a sense of humor.

Salary range :

10,000 - $20,000 ($2,500 per month for 20 hours / week or $5,000 per month for 40 hrs / week)

This is a stipend, non-benefits eligible, coverage position
