QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires the ability to maintain accurate, current records and files; prepare accurate reports and correspondence; perform mathematical calculations accurately; effectively read and interpret road maps; direct and schedule the work of others; communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
Knowledge of the California Vehicle Code, Education Code, and Title 13 CCR as it relates to school transportation; computer software programs, such as data bases, spreadsheets and word processors; streets, roads and school locations in the District; proper operation of a dispatching radio unit; appropriate procedures to be followed regarding the reporting of accidents or other safety hazards.
Must possess ability to assign school buses and drivers to established routes and activity trips; act as information source to public, school personnel and other interested parties regarding busing policies, procedures, routes, schedules and other activities; understand and follow both oral and written instructions independently; establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.
Five years of practical experience in computer applications. Completion of twelfth grade or equivalent, preferably supplemented with post high school college or business school computer training.
MUST POSSESS A VALID CALIFORNIA CLASS “C” DRIVER’S LICENSE. MUST SUBMIT A RECENT DMV (3 YEAR MINIMUM) DRIVING RECORD WITH APPLICATION.
A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED OF THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.
DUTIES OF POSITION: Must possess the skill to successfully operate a computer software system designed to schedule activity trips and bus routes. Make minor computer programming adjustments with limited direction. Work and communicate effectively in written and oral form. Meet established deadlines and assignments, maintain records and prepare accurate reports. Responsible for gathering information related to payroll and invoicing. Learn and keep current on pertinent new computer software programs and systems, work with limited supervision within the framework of standard policies and procedures.
STARTING SALARY: $4,996.41 (monthly)
NUMBER OF MONTHS: 12 (to begin as soon as possible)
NUMBER OF HOURS: 8 (daily working hours 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.)
