Key Resource Group is partnering with a Durable Medical Device distributor in Amherst, NY on a search for an experienced Sr. Medical Biller. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing and leading the daily team activities of data entry, prebilling, billing, and collections. This position will serve in a senior capacity and directly support the onsite Vice President. The specialist will ensure the accuracy of all claims submitted, perform follow-up on accounts not paid timely, process all adjustments with approval, and verify insurance coverage when necessary. Role will also collect cash on outstanding Accounts Receivables.
Please note: candidate must live in the Buffalo, NY / WNY area currently as this is an urgent hire.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Provide daily leadership and guidance to billing associates
- Partner with management to develop and track staffing standards, on-going trainings, and performance and productivity metrics
- Collaborate with team to assist in daily activities
- Monitor revenue cycle outcomes relative to co-pay collection, insurance verification, authorization, referral management and denials
- Provide any required training for new hires and existing staff on workflows and policies and procedures to maintain standardization
- Deal effectively with insurance carriers and their representatives
- Consult with patients by telephone in order to determine the reason for overdue payment by reviewing terms of sales, service, or credit contract
- Maintain effective communication and general office skills
- Manage Account Receivables of assigned accounts including processing insurance denials/appeals which may include phone contact with insurance companies
- Identify and resolve patient billing complaints
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations
Skills and Requirements:
- 3 years of Healthcare billing experience required. Experience billing Durable Medical Equipment is a huge plus! Leadership experience in some capacity is required
- 100% in-office role. Two shifts available: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM or 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Experience with various insurance carriers preferred such as Medicare and Medicaid
- Excellent organization and time management skill required
- Knowledge of HCPCS, ICD-10, and Reimbursement Guidelines highly preferred
- Brightree Database knowledge is a big plus but not required
