Job Summary
A Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, utilizing market analysis and client relationship building skills. Their primary objective is to expand the company's client base and enhance existing partnerships to drive growth and success.
Schedule
- Monday-Friday, 7:00am to 5:00pm
Essential Functions
Sales Strategy and Analysis:
- Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies to identify new sales opportunities and drive revenue growth.
- Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to identify potential business opportunities.
- Prepare reports of business transactions, including sales and sales activity as directed by the Supervisor. Keep track of expenses and expense reports.
Client Engagement and Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs, and providing tailored solutions to drive sales.
- Set clear expectations with clients and prospective clients, including the estimated date of delivery based on knowledge of production and delivery schedules.
- Investigate and resolve client and prospective clients' problems/issues when they arise.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors.
Lead Generation and Data Management:
- Compile a list of prospective customers for use as sales leads based on information from cold calling, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites, and other sources.
- Input data collected from clients and prospective clients into the assigned CRM.
Client Interaction and Sales Administration:
- Travel throughout the assigned territory to call on clients and prospective clients to solicit orders.
- Set up new clients utilizing Key Safety New Account Form. Quote prices and prepare sales orders using Key Safety Quote and New Order Forms.
- Coordinate customer training as needed.
- Track stock levels and order replacement stock when required.
- Attend trade shows as needed.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is preferred.
- Three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and sales experience.
- Knowledge of safety equipment and the use of PPE is beneficial.
Skills and Proficiencies
- Ability to meet and exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Willingness to do required training to receive Certifications, Licenses, or Registrations as required.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- The work setting encompasses an office, a warehouse, and driving to meet with customers on-site. The office environment requires the dexterity to operate office equipment such as a personal computer, keyboard, mouse, and telephone. The warehouse environment requires lifting up to 50 lbs. while using correct stepping, lifting, and handling protocol. Anything over 50 lbs. requires the use of a dolly or team lift.
- On occasion, this role may require lifting, squatting, or walking. Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time with frequent bending and lifting.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Given the nature of small business, it will commonly be required to take out your personal trash and keep your work area clean and tidy.
