What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automation Specialist position at KI?

Responsibilities include aid in design, engineering, start-up of automation projects. Maintenance support responsibilities for process and safety control systems supporting operations.  This position works with the automation engineer and Manufacturing to ensure products can be produced efficiently, cost effectively and safely.  As a key component, this position provides support/development for all automated processes and projects, control systems and safety systems. Essential Functions: Controls/Automation Engineering: Develop and implement PLC and robot programs to be used in production and manufacturing processes.  Edit and troubleshoot PLC and robot programs.  Troubleshoot / correct production equipment automation issues. Ensure process control and safety systems are installed and functioning properly Be the automation point of contact for equipment issues Follow control standards New Product/Process Development: Assist the automation engineer in the design, approval, build and implementation of equipment and processes required for new products or product enhancements Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve capacity and productivity problems of fixtures and equipment Develop a personal development plan to identify additional education needs or anything else mutually agreed on. Continuous Improvement: Plan, coordinate and implement continuous improvements activities to improve key performance indicators (contribution, on-time, cost of quality, incident rate, net efficiency, safety, etc.).
