What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Coordinator position at KI?
The Production Coordinator position is an intermediate leadership position responsible for operations of assembly areas. In this role the Production Coordinator leads the assembly area activities on a daily basis. The Production Coordinator works closely with Lean Process Managers, Managers, and Engineers as needed, as well as all production technicians in the area.
Leadership
• Set up production area, which allows employees maximum production
• Communication link with Manager and between shifts
• Conduct huddles in manager’s absence
• Resource for department product knowledge/quality issues
• Trouble shoot problems dealing with all areas within the department
• Issue CPR’s and follow up on receiving material
• Thorough understanding of bills of materials
• Be trained on all mechanical equipment within department to help with problem solving and training
• Be able to read, understand, and work with appropriate managers/engineers on department specials
• Institute and practice Lean Manufacturing ideas
• Make labor/overtime recommendations to manager
• Identify/assist/oversee department training
• Participate in employee performance reviews and department interview process
• Assist manager in conducting performance/attendance corrective action discussions
• Effectively deal with differing personalities in a motivational manner and participate in the resolution of department conflicts.
• Enforce policies and procedures and make recommendations on disciplinary actions.
• Assist in maintaining the Team Philosophy
• Assist managers in helping maintain labor standards
Production:
• Assist with production as needed
Continuous Improvement:
• Document downtime reasons & review regularly with Lean Process Managers
• Provide suggestions for improvements regularly
• Foster an environment of continuous improvement and encourage suggestions from team members
Safety:
• Maintain a clean/safe working environment
• Report any unsafe working conditions or equipment
• Maintain Safety as the highest priority
Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent, training, certification or education in Leadership, Operations Management, Business or Lean Manufacturing helpful
Forklift certification
Demonstrate effective communication and listening skills
An understanding and ability to use the BPCS system
Computer knowledge with Microsoft Outlook, Word, & Excel
Thorough knowledge of product (or the ability to learn it) and having the ability to answer questions regarding the product specifics
Be a team player, yet be able to work individually
Capability to make decisions on own
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to motivate others respectfully and successfully
Ability to provide clear direction
Ability to meet deadlines consistently
