What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dental Assistant I position at Kids Dental Brands?
Essential Functions:
The dental assistant performs many tasks requiring both interpersonal and technical skills. Although state regulations vary,
responsibilities may include:
- Assisting the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures,
- Taking and processing dental radiographs
- Asking about the patient's medical history and taking blood pressure and pulse
- Developing infection control protocol and preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment
- Helping patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment
- Providing patients with instructions for oral care following dental treatment procedures
- Teaching patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health, taking impressions of patients' teeth for study casts,
- Performing office management tasks that often require the use of a personal computer
- Communicating with patients and suppliers
Education:
- Certification from a dental assisting school
- X-ray and CPR certification
Experience:
- No experience necessary - new graduates or seasoned DAs are welcome to apply
- Experience working with children
Computer Skills: Computer Literate. - Language Ability: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Work Environment:
The work environment includes work within a dental clinic. The work environment may vary significantly and may include loud, fast-paced, and rapidly changing conditions. All employees working within a dental clinic have potential exposure to blood or air borne pathogens, as is typical in a healthcare setting. Position may require long periods of sitting, stooping, reaching and standing. Manual dexterity will be required for handling small objects and typing on a computer. Close and distance vision will be required. Employee may need to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
