What are the responsibilities and job description for the NURSE-LPN position at KidsPeace?
The LPN Staff Nurse, under the direction of an RN, is responsible for providing nursing care to clients as outlined in section 2 of the "Practical Nurse Law."
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Practical Nursing
- Active Georgia Practical Nursing license.
- CPR certification or immediate certification training required.
- Must have valid Georgia or Alabama driver's license.
JOB DUTIES:
- Utilize the nursing process to plan, implement, and evaluate individual client care.
- Administer medications per physician’s orders and observe for adverse reactions to medications. Monitor for, document and report to physician and/or RN all possible adverse reactions.
- Transcribe all physicians’ orders within the established time lines and guidelines.
- Assist the physician with physical examinations.
- Provide ongoing nursing care for KidsPeace clients per physician’s order such as monitoring of vital signs, administration of immunizations, implementation of KidsPeace lab protocol, and documenting all results in the client record in accordance with KidsPeace policies and procedures.
- Participate in the weekly Medication Review meetings and in ITT meetings as scheduled.
- Review Medication Administrative Records monthly and maintain accuracy of these records.
- Verify all medications packaged by the pharmacy for therapeutic leaves and provide medication and medical information for parents/guardians to accompany client on therapeutic leaves.
- Serve as liaison and care coordinator between the client, physician, and family.
- Treatment planning – identify treatment issues & plan interventions within the context of the multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Participate in discharge & aftercare planning.
- Complete QA, chart review & utilization review functions as needed.
